I am thrilled to introduce you to Rebecca.  She is this month's winner of the Goodwill Style Makeover!  Rebecca has an inspiring story (that you'll get to hear in a few weeks on this blog)... but before that, I wanted to meet with her and help her gain the "I CAN DO IT" kind of confidence to move toward her goals.  And, sometimes, all that takes is being able to see yourself in a different way... sometimes it just takes a new outfit.

Ambush Style Makeover - Sally

There seems to be a lot of buzz these days about this thing called a 'Capsule Wardrobe'. Apparently it is supposed to make your life infinitely easier. For those of you who have tried to implement this tactic into your wardrobe, you'll agree it can cause more stress than ease!  

What is a Capsule Wardrobe? This is simply a method of building a wardrobe. Using the right color palate (where everything goes together), a specific number of pieces are added to create limitless looks. Ideally, a 'Capsule Wardrobe" will have fewer number of clothes, with great number of outfits.

Find Your Style with FREE download!

Last week, you saw how Joni was able to figure out what her style was with her Ambush Style Makeover. We helped her think about what details in clothing and outfits she likes and matched that theme with her personality.

This is 'THE' thing that troubles so many women, and seems to be at the crux of the "I have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear" syndrome. How do you match what you LIKE in outfits, with clothing that really shows who you are? So many times our closet is filled with pieces we really don't like, or pieces that don't reflect who we are.

Why does this happen?  Well, I believe it is because as life goes on and changes, our shopping habits don't change...but our taste in things does (and dare I say our personality changes as we mature). If we always seem to buy black pants and white tops, it's hard for us to see (let alone try-on) anything but black pants and white tops. Defining WHAT you like is a good step in the right direction in helping you to notice all of the other options when you shop.

Personal style is a funny thing. Once we think we have it all figured out, it changes. Why?

According to our Fashion Guru, Kathy Friend - wardrobe stylist and image consultant, it is because we (as women) are always changing! Our personal style is simply an outward look at who we are as individuals. Our clothes tell the story of who we are. As our lives change, our story changes. For so many of us, our story and the image of our story (our clothes) don't always match.

Fringe is In

This summer is all about fun in the sun, so add some fun textures to your wardrobe with fringe details. Go for a bold look with a heavily fringed top or add some subtle fringe with tassels dangling from your jewelry.

This look can also be an easy DIY. Find a great sweater or vest at your local Goodwill store, then add a few yards of fringe (found at any craft store), and instant style!

With Fourth of July celebrations just around the corner, it’s time to bring out your stars and stripes! Go all out with a star spangled tank-top or add a flag detail to your favorite denim jacket.

Floral prints aren’t just for spring. Brighten up your look with bold hibiscus and tropical palm tree prints. 

Hawaiian print shirts are a great treasure that you are sure to find at your local Goodwill stores. Consider purchasing a men's large camp-style shirt in a great print and turning it into a skirt dress!

When it comes to prints, don’t be afraid to mix and match. Summer is about having fun, so have some fun with your wardrobe! Find new outfit combinations you might not have considered before...and what better way to experiment with this daring trend than with great finds at Goodwill!
